FAQ
Studying abroad offers numerous advantages: it widens your cultural and academic perspective, enhances your linguistic and interpersonal competences, and improves your independence and adaptation spirit.
You will experience different educational approaches and ways of thinking, preparing in the most effective way for a future in an international dimension.
The costs associated with studying abroad can vary greatly depending on the type of programme, the destination, the duration of your stay and the type of lifestyle you'll lead in your host country.
Programme prices usually include school tuition fees, levies, a reimbursement to the host family who provides accommodation and meals, pre-departure preparation and materials, and all the onsite support that a teenager might need during the experience. It is also important to budget for daily living expenses such as public transport, entertainment, phone calls and data, outings, excursions, etc.
For a more accurate estimate, the best thing to do is obtain an online quote or get in touch with WEP. Our staff can provide more information on specific costs relating to specific programmes/destinations, as well as any scholarships or discounts available.
Some of the less expensive destinations for a high school exchange programme are in Europe: France, Belgium, Germany and Italy. Outside of Europe, Argentina, Brazil and the USA have the most contained costs - but remember: your chosen programme type (e.g. Classic, Classic +, FLEX...) and duration have a direct impact on the final price.
Firstly, you will need to have your paperwork and ID documents in order, to be able to leave the UK and re-enter after your programme. Depending on your destination, a passport may be required, and you may need to obtain a visa. Specific vaccinations may also be required by some of our partner organisations - feel free to check with our staff if this applies to your chosen host country and programme.
Enrolling in the programme early will allow your family to complete any paperwork and red tape at your own pace, and WEP to complete all the necessary steps in time for your departure: overseas placement process, overseas school enrolment, booking airfares, organising your insurance, etc.
